My Antonia by Willa Cather: Book Review
My Antonia by Willa Cather
Jim Burden is a young man living in Virginia when his parents die, leaving
him an orphan. He goes to live with his grandparents out on the plains
of Nebraska where he has to adjust to a completely different lifestyle
from what he's used to. When he arrives, he meets Antonia Shimerda, a
young Bohemian girl who is also trying to adjust to a new life. As each
of them grows up they have many adventures together and help each other
become the best people possible. This fun story of two young friends
shows the importance of making lasting relationships in life, a lesson
that everyone should learn. As Jim's life unfolds, many other essential
messages are discovered in this tale of life on the plains, making the
book not only fun to read, but enlightening as well.
