The Grey King by Susan Cooper:
Book Review
The Grey King by Susan Cooper
When Will Stanton came
to Wales he didn't know what he was getting into. All he knew was that
he couldn't remember something important. But when Will meets Bran, a
strange boy who owns a white dog, he starts remembering. He remembers
the legend, the legend of a golden harp hidden inside a hill. This
legend also tells of a boy and a white dog with silver eyes. Together
the two would find the harp. But that is not the only thing he
remembers. He also remembers that he is the youngest of the Old Ones,
dedicated to help save the world from the forces of evil, otherwise
known as the Dark. As an Old One, it is Will's task to retrieve the
golden harp and awaken the six who must be awakened from their long
slumber to prepare for the last battle between Light and Dark.
This book is very
adventurous. There is magic, friends, enemies, and the struggle between
good and evil. My favorite part in this book is when Bran, Will, and
their dog go inside the Welsh hills to retrieve the harp. The reason
for this is because of all of the struggles they have to go through to
get there.
